Samsung Electronics held talks with GE for the utility business

Agency, South Korea's Yonhap News reported on Saturday that Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has been in talks with General Electric Co. about buying the company's utility business States, but negotiations broke down over the issue.

The report said that Samsung has initiated talks after General Electric (GE) has walked away from an agreement with Electrolux AB because of objections from US regulators.



Without citing sources, Yonhap said GE had ended talks with Samsung, after expressing his concerns US regulators about the problem . South Korean company is a major company in the US utility market.

Representatives of China's Haier Group said it would buy GE business for $ 5.4 billion.

Samsung spokesman declined to comment, while GE could not be reached immediately.
